Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo has reportedly told Southampton Football Club of his desire to leave the south coast club as he enters the final year of his contract with the club.
The midfielder did not feature in Southampton’s Championship season opener against Wrexham and barely featured in the Saints’ preseason friendly matches, as his future looks uncertain.
Aribo was left out of the squad against Brighton & Hove Albion and Eastleigh; he did not play against Espanyol but featured as a second-half substitute against CD Castellón and Gillingham and started against Valenciennes.
According to All Nigerian Soccer, the midfielder has prioritized a move to Saudi Arabia despite interest from other European clubs.
Joe Aribo is reportedly not interested in a move to RB Leipzig, Villareal, or Wilfred Ndidi’s Besiktas, but has his eyes on securing a bumper package from a Saudi-based club as he nears the twilight of his career.
The 29-year-old midfielder joined Southampton from Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2022 after a successful three-year spell at the 55-time Scottish champions. Aribo registered nine goals and one assist in 104 appearances across all competitions since his arrival at Southampton.
Aribo helped Southampton secure promotion back to the Premier League after the club was relegated to the English Championship the season he joined them.
