Chippa United are reportedly set to cash in on their prized goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, this summer.
The 28-year-old Nigerian shot-stopper has been a standout performer in the South African Premier League since joining Chippa United from Katsina United three years ago.
Nwabali’s impressive displays, including his stint with Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, had sparked interest from other clubs last summer. However, he opted to sign a new three-year contract and was appointed captain of the Chilli Boys.
According to South African outlet Kickoff, Chippa United are now prepared to sell Nwabali at the end of the season to fund new signings.
The club has allegedly identified two goalkeepers to replace him, paving the way for Nwabali’s departure.
Nwabali was in goal as the Super Eagles stumbled to a disappointing 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe, in what was a huge blow to their World Cup aspirations.
