Nigeria’s senior women’s team, the Super Falcons, maintained their spot in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday, 7th August.
The reigning African champions remain the 36th best team in the world with 1622.49 points.
Despite their recent feat of winning a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco, the Super Falcons remained in the same spot in the ranking.
However, Nigeria remains the highest-ranked women’s football team in Africa.
The Banyana Banyana of South Africa also remain 54th in the world, as they failed to defend their title.
Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses dropped four places in the ranking after losing to Nigeria on home soil in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations last month.
Zambia and Cameroon complete the top five teams in Africa.
The next FIFA ranking is expected to be released later in the year, and the Super Falcons are expected to maintain their spot again ahead of the qualifiers for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Cup of Nations.
