Andrey Rublev came from a set down to defeat Felix Auger-Aliassime (4-6, 7-5,7-5) to lift the Madrid 1000 trophy in Spain.

Rublev had previously knocked out the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter final and defeated American Taylor Fritz to progress to the finals. Felix on the other hand had a more easy run to the final after having two walkovers both in the quarter and semi finals.

The Russian got off to a worst possible start after losing the first game of the match and was 4-1 down before he rallies back but eventually lost the first set 6-4.

The second set was tighter with both players holding their serves until the 12th game where Rublev broke the Canadian and to clinch the second set.

In the final set both players cancelled each other out up until the 12th game where Felix served a double fault to hand the title to Rublev.
