Iago Silva, the son of Brazilian legend Thiago Silva, has received his first call-up to the England Under-15 national team after a series of impressive displays for Chelsea’s youth sides.
The 14-year-old defender, who has been part of Chelsea’s academy since his father joined the club in 2020, will take part in an upcoming training camp with England’s U15s — marking a major milestone in his young career.
Born in France and eligible to represent both Brazil and England, Iago qualifies for the Three Lions through residency, having lived in London for the past five years.
Though still early in his development, Iago has already built a strong reputation within Chelsea’s Cobham setup. Coaches reportedly view him as a composed and technically gifted defender — traits reminiscent of his father, who captained Brazil at two World Cups and won league titles with AC Milan, PSG, and Chelsea.

Thiago Silva, who left Chelsea earlier this year after four successful seasons, has often spoken about the pride he feels watching his sons pursue football. “It’s a dream to see them enjoying the game,” he said in a previous interview. “They have the chance to write their own stories.”
While representing England at youth level does not tie Iago permanently to the country, the call-up highlights the strong start he’s made in his football journey.
For now, the young Silva will focus on his development at Chelsea and his first taste of international football with England’s next generation.
