Russia will welcome the Super Eagles to the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday for an international friendly, with Valery Karpin’s side entering the encounter in impressive form.
The Russians have recorded consecutive victories over Iran and Namibia, including a commanding 6–0 win over Namibia in their most recent outing. Their attacking form will present a stern test for a Nigeria side preparing to face Russia with several established defenders unavailable.
Here are three Russian players who could cause the Super Eagles serious problems.
Lechi Sadulaev

Akhmat Grozny attacker Lechi Sadulaev has emerged as one of Russia’s most influential players in recent matches.
Sadulaev opened the scoring in Russia’s 6–0 victory over Namibia with a composed finish after cutting inside and was among the standout performers on the night.
The attacker has also made a bright start to the domestic season, contributing goals and assists for Akhmat. His ability to operate between the lines, find pockets of space around the penalty area and finish with either foot makes him a difficult player to contain.
Nigeria’s midfielders and full-backs will need to prevent Sadulaev from receiving the ball in dangerous areas, particularly around the edge of the box.
Konstantin Tyukavin

Dynamo Moscow striker Konstantin Tyukavin is another player Nigeria’s defence will have to watch closely.
The forward came off the bench to score against Namibia and has continued to show impressive form at club level, registering four goals and one assist in seven Russian Premier League appearances this season.
His movement inside the box, ability to link play and clinical finishing make him a significant threat to Nigeria’s centre-backs.
With the Super Eagles missing several regular defenders, keeping Tyukavin under control could prove crucial.
Aleksey Miranchuk
Aleksey Miranchuk brings experience and creativity to the Russian attack.
The Atlanta United midfielder is capable of operating between midfield and attack, dropping deep to link play, moving into wider positions or making late runs into the penalty area.
His vision and intelligent movement allow him to create overloads and open spaces for teammates, while his progressive passing can unlock compact defensive structures.
Nigeria will therefore need to keep a close eye on Miranchuk, particularly when he finds space between the midfield and defensive lines.
