Tottenham Hotspur are the new champions of the Europa League after claiming a narrow win over Manchester United in Bilbao.
Ange Postecoglu’s famous statement “Usually in my second season, I win things” came to reality as the Lilywhites ended their 17-year wait for a trophy.
Brennan Johnson’s 42nd minute goal sealed the win for Ange Postecoglu’s men men as the Welshman took advantage of a poor clearance in Manchester United’s box.
Johnson’s goal was the highlight of the first half as Tottenham went into the break with the lead after a disappointing display from both sides.
Despite Manchester United’s dominance, the Red Devils were unlucky in front of goal as Tottenham maintained a low block for most part of the second half.

Bruno Fernandes missed a big chance to draw Manchester United level but the Portuguese midfielder’s header went off target after Vicario missed the ball from a cross.
Substitute, Alejandro Garnacho fired a low drive imto the bottom left corner of goal but Vicario dived to the ground quickly to parry the ball away.
With time running out, Ruben Amorim’s men resolved to spam Tottenham’s box with crosses in a bid to steal a late equalizer but none troubled the Italian goalkeeper in between the sticks.
Tottenham held on to the end as they claim their third Europa League success which wraps up a disastrous season for Reuben Amorim’s Manchester United.
The victory is Tottenham’s fourth consecutive win over Manchester United this season across three competitions – Premier League, Carabao Cup and the Europa League.
