Nottingham Forest are determined to keep Taiwo Awoniyi at the club despite reported interest from West Ham United.
Awoniyi has struggled for game time this season, spending most of the campaign either injured or playing second fiddle to Chris Wood.
The 27-year-old moved to the City Ground in the summer of 2022 for a deal worth a reported €20 million. He was immense in his first season, helping the Tricky Trees maintain their Premier League status, but even in that campaign in which he scored 10 league goals, he struggled to stay fit.
Awoniyi has started just two league games this season, and considering the red-hot form of Wood, who also scored against Liverpool on Tuesday night, a departure may be the smart move.
According to the Sun, West Ham are desperately lacking in the attacking department after Michail Antonio’s unfortunate injury ruled him out of action, Nicklas Fullkrug’s knee injury, and the recent injury to Jarrod Bowen.
The Hammers are also interested in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran but may be unlikely to meet the striker’s asking price.
