Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has turned down the opportunity to move to Manchester United this summer.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, Gyokeres’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has told the Red Devils his client doesn’t want to be reunited with manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford next season.
The Sweden international was coached by Amorim during his time in charge of Sporting Lisbon.
The 27-year-old netted 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting last season. Man United’s Premier League rival Arsenal are also reportedly interested in signing Gyokeres this summer.
Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand recently advised his former club to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen instead of Gyokeres.
The Red Devils require more firepower up front after an underwhelming 2025/26 campaign.
The duo of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failed to deliver for United last season, with Amorim’s side finishing in a disappointing 15th position on the Premier League table.
