Jose Mourinho’s Benfica ended their winless streak in the UEFA Champions League league phase with a road win away at Ajax.
Ajax Amsterdam and Benfica came into the tie seeking their first win in the competition after four losses each.
However, Ajax’s search for their maiden win continued after Benfica sealed a two-nil win away at Amsterdam.
Benfica started the match with the intention to get an early goal as Ricahrd Rios forced a brilliant save off the goalkeeper via a header.
The early goal came in the sixth minute as Samuel Dahl pounced on a rebound to give the visitors the lead.
Despite dominating for a better period of the match, Ajax were quite unlucky in front of goal as Anatoliy Turbin kept his side in the game with a couple of saves.
Luxembourger, Leandro Barreiro sealed the win late in added time of the regulation time as Benfica sealed a 2-0 win.
Meanwhile, A Victor Osimhen-less Galatasaray suffered its second loss of the league phase on Tuesday night.
Union Saint-Gilloise picked up maximum points at the Rams Arena in Istanbul courtesy of Promise David’s second-half goal.
The win is the Belgian side’s second win after three consecutive losses.
