The UEFA Champions League matchday 1 continued with more thrilling games to keep us glued to our television screens.
Wednesday was just as exciting as Tuesday’s action, with Victor Olatunji leading Sparta Prague to an impressive 3-0 win over RB Salzburg at home.
Elsewhere, Scottish side Celtic put the rest of Europe on notice with a stunning 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava. Liam Scales opened the scoring for Brendan Rodgers’ men before star player Kyogo Furuhashi doubled their lead.
Second-half goals from Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda, and Adam Idah wrapped up a big win for the Glasgow side.
Over in France, PSG needed a late own goal to beat Girona 1-0 at the Parc des Princes. Nuno Mendes drilled a dangerous cross into the middle, but it went through the legs of Paulo Gazzaniga in the Girona goal.
The biggest game of the night saw Manchester City welcome Inter Milan to the Etihad in a repeat of the 2023 final. Both teams played to their strengths, with Pep Guardiola’s men controlling the tempo and Inter maintaining a low block and attempting to break away on the counter. Both teams created chances, with Ilkay Gundogan missing a free header with the last action of the game but on reflection, a draw is probably a fair result.
Finally, Borussia Dortmund got their Champions League campaign to an excellent start with a 3-0 thumping of Club Brugge.
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens scored a brace before summer signing Serhou Guirassy put the gloss on a fine performance with the third goal.
