Manchester United’s challenging season continued as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Monday evening.
Early goals from Alexander Isak and Joelinton secured the victory for the visitors, marking United’s fifth loss in their last six Premier League matches.
Newcastle took the lead in the 4th minute when Alexander Isak capitalized on a deflected cross from Anthony Gordon.
Joelinton doubled the advantage in the 19th minute, outjumping Lisandro Martinez to head in another delivery from Gordon.
Despite a slight improvement in the second half, including a header from Harry Maguire that struck the woodwork, Manchester United failed to mount a significant comeback.
The defeat has intensified scrutiny on United’s manager, Rúben Amorim, who has now overseen six losses in December alone.
