Leicester City captain, Jamie Vardy has publicly apologized to fans after the club’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed over the weekend.
A 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at the King Power Stadium sealed their fate, marking their second demotion in three seasons.
In a candid social media post, the 38-year-old striker described the 2025 season as a “s**t show,” expressing deep regret over the team’s performance.
“No words I have can ever express my feelings of anger and sadness with the way this season has gone. There are no excuses,” Vardy wrote. “Collectively, as players and as a club, we failed. There is simply no hiding.”
Vardy, a pivotal figure in Leicester’s historic 2015-16 Premier League title win, has scored seven goals this season. Despite his efforts, the team has struggled, managing only four wins and accumulating 18 points from 33 matches.
Their recent form includes a record-setting nine consecutive home games without scoring.
The club’s managerial changes have also drawn attention. Ruud van Nistelrooy, who replaced Steve Cooper in November, has overseen a challenging period with 16 losses in 18 matches.
His contract, running through 2027, reportedly lacks a relegation clause, leaving his future with the club uncertain.
As Leicester prepares for life in the Championship, significant changes are anticipated. With several high-wage players on the roster, the club aims to restructure and bounce back swiftly.
Vardy’s future remains a topic of discussion, with fans expressing hope that he will stay to lead the team’s resurgence.
