Venezia head coach Giovanni Stroppa is over the moon with the imminent arrival of Super Eagles forward Akor Adams.
Stroppa described the Nigerian striker as a vital addition to the Venice-based club ahead of their return to the Italian top-flight football.
Akor Adams will sign for Venezia from Sevilla after the Italian club reached an agreement with the striker.
Giovanni Stroppa expressed his delight at Akor Adams while speaking to Sky Sport 24.
“I’m very happy for the acquisition of Akor Adams; he’s a really important figure, and he can give us a hand, along with Rrahmani,” Stroppa said.
The Venezia manager believes Adams can provide a major boost to his attacking options as the club prepares for life in Serie A.
Adams built his reputation at Sevilla with a standout campaign this season. He has scored 10 goals in 30 La Liga appearances, averaging 0.46 goals per 90 minutes, and has topped the club’s scoring charts.
He has also racked up 14 goal involvements overall, backed by underlying numbers that rank him among La Liga’s most efficient forwards this season. Sevilla signed him from Montpellier, where he had scored 11 goals and set up two more in 47 league games.
Adams’ club form has run in tandem with a fast rise on the international stage. He made his senior Super Eagles debut in October 2025, coming off the bench against Lesotho and scoring the goal that sealed a 2-1 victory in a World Cup qualifying match.
He carried that momentum into the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, where he became a key figure almost immediately despite lacking prior tournament experience.
Akor Adams had a brilliant partnership with Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen at the last Africa Cup of Nations as Nigeria finished third.
Adams kept adding to his international résumé with a goal in Nigeria’s World Cup playoff against Gabon, then scored again in a friendly against Portugal in June 2026, taking his Super Eagles tally to six goals. That steady scoring form for Nigeria, combined with his output at Sevilla, transformed him from a relative unknown into one of the country’s most trusted forwards within a matter of months, driving the interest that eventually pushed Venezia to move for his signature.
Adams’ arrival represents another important move for Venezia as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of their Serie A campaign.
The Nigerian forward will now look to repay the faith shown in him by Stroppa and make an impact in Italian football.
