The Nigeria U-17 Women’s national team defeated Ivory Coast 3-2 in a thrilling contest on Monday in the ongoing WAFU U-17 tournament in Prampram, Ghana.
Chidi opened the scoring early on, finishing off a precise counterattack to give Nigeria the lead.
However, the Ivorians, led by their dynamic forward Kaholo Claire Elvyre Zaddy, responded with an equaliser before halftime.
In the second half, Chidi scored twice more, including a stunning solo effort, to complete her hat-trick and restore Nigeria’s dominance. Despite a late goal from Cote d’Ivoire, the Flamingos held on for a vital win.
The result ensures that the Flamingos finish top of the table in group B with six points and qualify for the semifinals. They will face Benin Republic who finished second in Group A.
