NWSL side, Washington Spirit have bolstered their attacking lineup by signing Nigerian forward Gift Monday to a three-year contract, with an option for the 2028 season. The transfer from Spain’s UD Tenerife involves an undisclosed fee.
Head Coach Jonathan Giráldez expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Gift has unique qualities as a forward and will add a new layer to our attacking third. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the team in the near future.”
At 23, Monday has made significant strides in her professional career. During her tenure with UD Tenerife from 2022 to 2025, she recorded 26 goal contributions in 65 matches.
Prior to her time in Spain, she played for Nigeria’s FC Robo and COD United Amazons. Internationally, Monday debuted for the Nigerian national team in 2019 and was part of the squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
