Wasteful Chelsea lose ground in title race as Everton stand firm

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea could not break down a resolute Everton defence despite Nicolas Jackson fluffing several excellent chances.

Chelsea missed the opportunity to top the Premier League table after a goalless draw with Everton at Goodison Park.

The Blues dominated the first half, but the two best chances of the game fell to Jackson, whose effort was saved by Jordan Pickford, and Malo Gusto blasted the rebound over the bar.

Everton’s defense held strong, with the Toffees proving difficult to break down.

In the second half, Everton nearly took the lead, but Robert Sánchez denied Jack Harrison from close range with an exceptional save.

The hosts continued to create opportunities, with Sánchez making crucial saves to secure a point for Chelsea.

Despite their dominance, the Blues were unable to find a breakthrough, and the draw keeps them second behind Liverpool.

Everton, meanwhile, climb to 15th in the standings, with Sean Dyche’s side showing resilience in recent matches.
