Nigeria captain William Troost Ekong has taken to social media to send a rallying cry to Nigerians following the disappointing draw against Zimbabwe.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are facing a daunting task in their bid to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the USA. A disappointing 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe on Tuesday evening i Uyo has left the team in a precarious position.
The result has sparked concern among fans, with many believing all hope is now lost. However, captain William Ekong is urging calm and optimism.
Taking to X, Ekong wrote, “Responsibility taken. Same target ahead. We will do it together.”

Nigeria’s chances of qualifying are still alive, but they’ll need to win their remaining games and hope that leaders South Africa, who have 13 points, slip up.
The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in Group C with just seven points, having drawn three, lost one, and won one game. Their only win came against Rwanda last Friday, and any more dropped points will likely put the final nail in the coffin.
