Super Eagles de facto captain Ahmed Musa is very unlikely to play for the home-based Super Eagles ahead of the Championship of African Nations qualifier against Ghana next month.
Reactions trailed the omission of the forward from Austin Eguavoen’s list for the two-legged qualifier despite playing for Kano Pillars.
Recall that Ahmed Musa rejoined his boyhood club Kano Pillars in October after the terminating his contract with Silvasspor.
Despite scoring 3 goals in his opening 5 matches for Kano Pillars, Musa was not included in Austin Eguavoen’s squad.
An investigation into the issue shows that the Ahmed Musa is not eligible to play in the competition.
According to Chapter 16, Article 38.2 of the CHAN regulations, only home-based players with permanent contact with their clubsides are eligible to participate.
Ahmed Musa reportedly signed a short-term contract with Kano Pillars on his third stint with the club.
The CHAN Eagles will take on Ghana for a place in the competition. The first leg will hold in Ghana on December 20.
The return fixture will hold seven days later in Nigeria.
