Ezinne Kalu a star player for the Nigerian women’s national basketball team is on the move.
Ahead of the final game of the WNBA regular season, Kalu finally gets a chance to shine in the best women’s professional basketball league.
Atlanta Dream sign Ezinne Kalu
Guard Ezinne Kalu has signed a seven-day hardship contract with the Atlanta Dream, the team announced.
The 5’8″ guard has a plethora of international experience playing for Nigeria in big tournaments.
Earlier this year, in Paris, she most recently guided the Nigerian squad to the knockout stages of the 2024 Olympic women’s basketball event.
After A’ja Wilson of the USA, Satou Sabally of Germany, and Emma Meesseman of BEL, Kalu ranked fourth in the category with an average of 18.5 points per game in Paris.
In an incredible comeback victory over Australia, Kalu scored 19 points, dished out five assists, grabbed five rebounds, and committed three steals.
Though Kalu is originally from Newark, New Jersey, she has experience in Georgia, having attended Savannah State University, where in 2015 she led the Tigers to their first MEAC Championship.
She also made school history by being the first player to score more than 2,000 points in a career.
Kalu is expected to feature for the Atlanta Dream as they head into the WNBA playoffs.
