Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has a bit of good news to cheer him up ahead of next month’s 2026 crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
The last few days have cast further doubt on the chances of Super Eagles securing maximum points in the two matches following injuries to some of the invited players, including goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and Akor Adams.
The absence of Felix Agu would have left the Super Eagles with limited options in the left-back position, having been included in Eric Chelle’s provisional list.
However, Werder Bremen manager Horst Steffen has delivered a positive update on the fitness of Felix Agu ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture with Bayer Leverkusen.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Horst Steffen told reporters Felix Agu and Niklas Stark are in contention to feature this weekend:
“Both are feeling better and trained today, and if they continue to show no reaction, they’ll play.
“Marco Friedl is predicted to be back in action for the next Bundesliga game after the international break, but I can’t predict his exact development.”
Felix Agu featured for Nigeria in the Unity Cup in May after getting clearance from the German Football Association. He was in contention to play against Russia in an international friendly in June, but could not feature due to visa complications.
The left-back is expected to make Eric Chelle’s final squad for the qualifiers next month and could be capped, meaning he will no longer be eligible to play for the German national team.
