Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso will reportedly leave the club at the end of the season, with Real Madrid expected to be his next destination.
According to Eurosport, Xabi Alonso will depart Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen next summer, despite signing a contract until 2026.
The report adds that Alonso is the chosen one for Real Madrid, although Carlo Ancelotti still has 18 months left on his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bayern Munich are also interested and are watching to see how Vincent Kompany performs.
Additionally, Alonso has reportedly informed several squad members that this will be his last season at the helm.
The timing is interesting, given that Carlo Ancelotti is struggling at Real Madrid and could be shown the door.
Alonso led Leverkusen to a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in 2023/24, losing only one game all season – the Europa League final to Atalanta.
However, their title defence is not going according to plan, with Leverkusen currently 9 points behind leaders Bayern.
