Manchester City legend, Yaya Toure has revealed that he played a pivotal role in the club’s transfer dealings following his arrival from Barcelona in 2010.
Toure, who quickly became one of City’s greatest-ever players, was frequently consulted by the club’s hierarchy for advice on potential signings.
In an interview with Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube channel, Toure shared that he was often asked for his opinion on which players could strengthen the squad.
“Because of my experience, my knowledge, they would ask me ‘who do you think would be good for us?'” Toure said.
“I recommended players like Aguero, Samir Nasri, and David Silva. There was a lot of trust in my judgment, and I was very pleased with it.”
Toure is particularly proud of recommending Sergio Aguero, who went on to become one of Manchester City’s greatest ever players.
Aguero joined the club from Atletico Madrid in 2011, and his 260 goals in 390 appearances helped secure five Premier League titles for the club, including the unforgettable goal that clinched their first-ever league title in 2012.
