Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made a surprising statement, declaring that his players don’t deserve bonuses this season, even if they win the Club World Cup.
Despite the potential £97 million prize pot, which would significantly boost the club’s summer transfer budget, Guardiola believes his team’s inconsistent campaign doesn’t warrant rewards.
“We don’t deserve it this season,” he said. “We don’t deserve a bonus this season. If we win, the bonus is for the club. Managers, staff, players – we don’t deserve it. Not even a watch.”
City’s focus now shifts to their FA Cup quarter-final match against Bournemouth on Sunday, where they’ll aim to reach their seventh consecutive semi-final.

However, their Champions League qualification hopes remain uncertain, making the Club World Cup a crucial opportunity to salvage their season.
Guardiola’s comments come as City hope to finish the season on a high before heading to the United States to begin preparations for the Club World Cup.
