Zimbabwe coach Michael Nees hails great condition in Uyo ahead of Super Eagles clash

Coach of the Brave Warriors of Zimbabwe Michael Nees has hailed the brilliant condition of the hotel and training facilities in Uyo.

The German coach says he is impressed with the grass at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Nees also added that the hotel the team are camped in is very good and spacious. Consequently, he has no complains.

Michael Nees went on to say he would love to have such training facility back home in Zimbabwe as the team currently do not have a FIFA/CAF approved pitch.

Conditions, hotel is fine. We settled in. We were a bit delayed yesterday because our flight was cancelled. So we lost a couple of hours, but it was not a train smash.

Hotel, very spacious. I think we cannot complain about that. That was the former hotel of Nigeria, which moved now to another hotel, a newer hotel, but the hotel is fine. We cannot complain anything about that. Training pitch, you can see by yourself, I think.

We would be happy to have something in our home. Very good, really very good, impressed. Actually, the stadium pitch I expect even better, but the training pitch is really good, soft, not too hard, very good underground work.

Nees also spoke about how his players are adapting to the weather conditions, the fatigue and how the players are responding to training.

We had a session adapting to the climate also a little bit. We moved it to the morning that we can have a longer break until the final session, I think, which helps us to acclimatize a little bit.

And yeah. Yeah, I think it looked good.
Of course, the intensity was not yet on the maximum level. You cannot do it.
You have to adapt. You have to manage the load. The trouble also is still in the legs.

It was we were basically on the run against 35 hours from hotel to hotel. And that traveling takes also its toll, but we can be satisfied so far how it’s going.

The Super Eagles had their recovery session and trained at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
