3 Reasons Victor Osimhen Made the Right Decision Joining Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen’s permanent transfer to Galatasaray for a record-breaking €75m marks a pivotal moment for both the player and the Turkish giants.
The Super Eagles striker, who scored 37 goals and led Galatasaray to a domestic double in the 2024-25 season, has made a wise career move.
Here are three reasons why joining Galatasaray was the right decision for Osimhen.

Leading Role For A Big Team

Galatasaray offers Osimhen a platform to shine as the focal point of their attack. His prolific goal-scoring during his loan spell demonstrated his ability to thrive in the Turkish Süper Lig, a league known for its passionate fanbase and competitive edge.
With the club’s ambition to dominate domestically and compete in Europe, Osimhen’s role as their leading striker ensures he remains a central figure, enhancing his reputation as one of Europe’s elite forwards.

Better than Saudi Arabia

While not offering the financial incentives of the Saudi Arabian league, the move aligns with Osimhen’s career trajectory at age 26. After a stellar stint at Napoli, where he helped secure the Serie A title in 2022-23, Galatasaray provides a fresh challenge without the intense scrutiny of Europe’s top-five leagues. The club’s financial commitment, as highlighted by Vice President Abdullah Kavukcu, who noted they raised funds without selling assets, signals their belief in Osimhen’s long-term value.

Cult Hero For A Huge Fanbase

Finally, Galatasaray’s passionate fanbase and storied history offer Osimhen a unique cultural fit. The club’s “huge” stature, as Kavukcu described, and their ability to fund the transfer independently reflect an environment where Osimhen can thrive under adoration and high expectations.
With his medical set for Thursday and a warm welcome in Istanbul, Osimhen’s decision positions him for success in a football-mad city.
