Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has been in the news for the past few days over his controversial comments on the Africa Cup of Nations.

Carragher belives that Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah is at a disadvantage for this year’s Ballon D’or despite his staggering performance for club and country.

The 2005 Champions League winner says considering that Salah won’t be playing in any major tournament this year with Egypt, the 32-year-old chances of winning would be slim.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will hold this year in Morocco during Christmas leading up to the new year.

Carragher has been heavily criticized for his controversial comments and Super Eagles former captain says the former Liverpool defender doesn’t understand African football.

He also added that given the kind of football Jamie Carragher played, no one would want their kids to be like him.

While Jay Jay Okocha’s banter on Carragher hit the target, the defender’s career when compared to Jay Jay Okocha’s appears to be better.

1. Jamie Carragher is a two-time European Cup winner

The Liverpool defender is a Champions League winner. He was part of the squad that came from 3-0 down beat AC Milan in that famous night in Istanbul.

He also won the UEFA Cup (Europa League) with Liverpool in 2001. Jamie Carragher also won the UEFA Super Cup twice, 2001 and 2005.

Jay Jay Okocha despite his talent never won any title in Europe even though he played for PSG, Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahce and of course Bolton Wanderers.

2. Domestic Success

Even though, Jamie Carrahger never won the Premier League, he won other domestic titles which Jay Jay Okocha can only dream of.

Carragher is a two-time FA Cup winner 2001 and 2006. He also won the Football League Cup in 2001, 2003 and 2012.

He also won the FA Community Shield twice with Liverpool in 2001 and 2006.

3. One-man club with impact

Jamie Carragher unlike Jay Jay Okocha who had a normadic career only okayed for one club and had multiple successes with the Reds.

Jay Jay Okocha played for Fenerbahce, Eintracht Frankfurt and Paris Saint Germain and none of these clubs can be compared to Liverpool – a six-time Champions League champions.
