With Matchday 6 of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League league phase kicking off on December 9 and 10, there are plenty of intriguing fixtures.
Real Madrid vs Manchester City
According to reports in Spain, this match is likely to decide Xabi Alonso’s future as Real Madrid manager. A loss could see the Spanish legend lose his job after the club’s hierarchy met following the home loss to Celta Vigo on Sunday night.
However, Xabi Alonso can take solace in the fact that Real Madrid have dominated Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in recent meetings in the competition.
There is no clear favorite in this tie as both teams have not been exactly convincing in the competition so far, but Real Madrid’s injury worries in defense narrow their chances of winning
Inter Milan vs Liverpool
Mohammed Salah will not be available for this fixture after he was dropped by Arne Slot following his recent outburst.
Liverpool have won three of their four meetings against Inter Milan in the competition, with the latest being a 2-0 win at the Giuseppe Meazza in the first leg of the 2021/2022 Champions League quarter-finals.

However, the Reds are currently struggling with one win in their last six meetings. Arne Slot’s suffered a heavy 4-1 loss to PSV at Anfield on matchday five and lost the gave away the lead twice in the three-all draw at Leeds over the weekend.
Inter Milan seems to be the favorite to nick a win, having won three matches in a row with 11 goals scored and one conceded.
Atalanta vs Chelsea
Atalanta are currently on a three-game winning streak in the Champions League. La Dea go into the clash against Chelsea on the back of a 3-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt, while Chelsea did Barcelona dirty at Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea have been struggling in the Premier League with no wins in three matches.
Atalanta and Chelsea will face off for the first-ever, and La Dea will look to put their scandalous 3-0 win loss at Verona when they take on the Blues on Tuesday.
Bayern München vs Sporting CP
Bayern Munich are on a mission to get back to winning ways after the 3-1 loss at Arsenal. The Bavarians go into the tie as favorites, having dominated all the previous meetings between the two sides. Sporting Lisbon suffered a devastating 7-1 loss the last time they visited the Allianz Arena in the competition.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Athletic Club
Defending champions PSG, with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Vitinha, among others, have been pulling the strings as they face Basque warriors Athletic Bilbao. PSG are the favorites to win with four wins out of five in the Champions League, while Bilbao have only managed one.
