5 things to know about Hamzat Ojediran

Hamzat-Basit Ojediran, born on November 14, 2003, in Lagos, Nigeria, is a professional footballer who has been making significant strides in European football.

Here are five things to know about the career of the Nigerian youngster;

1. Early Development 

Ojediran honed his skills at the Emmanuel Amunike Academy in Nigeria, a renowned institution for nurturing young talent. His time at the academy was instrumental in developing his technical abilities and understanding of the game.

In August 2022, Ojediran signed a four-year contract with Albanian club KF Egnatia, marking his entry into professional football. During his tenure, he made 11 league appearances, gaining valuable experience in European competitions.

3. Loan to Debreceni VSC

In February 2023, Ojediran joined Hungarian side Debreceni VSC on loan, with an option to buy. After a series of impressive performances, Debreceni VSC exercised the purchase option in June 2023, and Ojediran became a regular starter, contributing three goals in 25 league appearances during the 2023–2024 season.

4. Move to RC Lens

Ojediran’s growing reputation led to a transfer to French Ligue 1 club RC Lens in August 2024, where he signed a contract until 2028. Since joining Lens, he has continued to develop, making nine league appearances and scoring one goal, showcasing his adaptability and skill in one of Europe’s top leagues.

5. International Experience with Nigeria U17

On the international stage, Ojediran represented Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup, gaining exposure to high-level competition and demonstrating his potential on a global platform.
