France came from behind once again like they did against Belgium to win the Nations League with Kylian Mbappe redeeming himself from his penalty miss in the Euros which sent his team packing by scoring the winner to lift the trophy by 2-1.
The first half was really a cagey affair with very little scoring chances created. The major talking point was Raphael Varane’s injury which happened late in the first half after he made a crucial block but was later substituted for Bayern’s Upamecano.
However, the second half lived up to expectation by it having all three goals and a lot of chances created. Mikel Oyarzabal scored in the 64th minute with a well drilled shot to the bottom corner which left Hugo Lloris rooted to the spot; but it wasn’t up to a minute before Karim Benzema curled in what might be the goal of the tournament which went straight into the top corner to make it 1-1.
It was Mbappe he turned out to be the hero of the night after he got a through ball from Hernandez that was deflected by Garcia which could have been offside if not for the contact from the Barcelona man, Mbappe kept his cool to slot in a left footed shot underneath Unai Simon to give the World Champions another trophy.
