South Africa captain and goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams has shared the beautiful moment he had with Nigeria forward, Ademola Lookman at the Ballon D’Or ceremony.
Williams, nominated for the Yashin trophy awarded to the best goalkeeper, made history by becoming the first keeper to be nominated while playing for an African club.
He said, “The Ballon D’Or event was an amazing achievement but I couldn’t have done it alone. There are so many people one could but we would sit here all day.”
“I was just there taking it all in and rub shoulders with the best of the best. I was very close with Lookman. It was the first time for us to be in there and I don’t know anyone on a personal level so it was good to have someone to have a conversation with.”
“It was nice to have Lookman in my corner and we had a nice chat about the World Cup qualifiers so it was a perfect event.”
Williams and Lookman have both made the final list of nominees for the CAF Player of the Year Award.
