Bayer 04 Leverkusen head coach, Xabi Alonso, has revealed he’ll take proper action on Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface after the forward was caught recklessly driving in Germany.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, has found himself at the center of controversy after a video surfaced of him using his phone while driving.
The 23-year-old, who has scored eight goals in 15 games this season, was seen reading Instagram comments on his phone while driving his Mercedes-AMG car at 140km/h, exceeding the speed limit of 120km/h.
This incident is not Boniface’s first brush with driving controversy. Six weeks ago, he was involved in a car crash in Germany.
Bayer Leverkusen has released a statement, announcing that they will investigate the matter and address Boniface’s actions.
As reported by German outlet BILD, the video, which has since been taken down from Instagram, showed Boniface distracted while driving. The club will likely take disciplinary action against the Nigerian striker.
Xabi Alonso also confirmed that he will hold talks with Boniface for such a reckless act as soon as possible.
“I don’t like it, it’s obviously not good, and of course, it’s not allowed to happen. I haven’t seen Boni, but he knows it’s not allowed. We have to tell him he’s not allowed to do something like this,” the former Liverpool midfielder said in his pre-match conference, as revealed by BeIN Sports Philippines.
Leverkusen are currently fourth on the Bundesliga table, nine points behind league leaders, Bayern Munich.
