Westham United striker Michail Antonio has been involved in a ghastly car accident in Essex near London.
Reports online suggest that the Jamaican striker was airlifted to a hospital after the accident occured on Saturday.
Pictures circulating online show bonnet of Michail Antonio’s car badly damaged after it hit what looks a tree off the road.
“In a statement after the accident occured, Westham confirmed that the player is in a stable condition after receiving treatment.”
West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition following a road traffic accident this afternoon in the Essex area.
“Michail is conscious and communicating, and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital.
“At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family.
“The club will make no further comment this evening but will issue a further update in due course.”
The 34-year-old striker came on as a second half substitute in Westham’s 3-1 loss to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in a midweek fixture.
Michail Antonio had made 15 appearances for Westham in all competitions this season with a goal and an assist.
