Tanzania head coach Miguel Gamondi has unveiled a 24-man squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The Taifa Stars squad features a strong representation of players from the Tanzanian Premier League, with domestic clubs accounting for the majority of the selections.
Yanga FC and Azam FC lead the way with five players each, while Kagera Sugar and Singida Black Stars have one representative apiece.
Among the foreign-based players included in Gamondi’s selection are Novatus Miroshi of Turkish Super Lig side Goztepe, Cyprian Kachewele of Ukrainian club Kryvbas, and Bernard Kamongo, who plays for FC Dallas in the United States.
Tanzania will be looking to secure their first victory of the qualifying campaign after a difficult start. They opened their campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau before playing out a 1-1 draw against Madagascar.
Gamondi’s men will travel to Nigeria for their Matchday Three encounter against the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13.
The two sides will meet again four days later, on November 17, with Tanzania hosting the return fixture in Dar es Salaam.
Nigeria will be aiming to make home advantage count as both nations battle for crucial points in the race to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
