Mohammed Salah has been without an iota of doubt the most important player at Liverpool over the last eight years.

The “Egyptian King” as he’s fondly called has maintained a high level of consistency for the Reds in the period under review.

Mohammed Salah

Salah was immensely instrumental to Liverpool’s first-ever Premier League title in 2020 and their Champions League victory a year before.

The Reds are currently top of the Premier League and are considered favorite to lift the title in May. This wouldn’t have happened without Mohammed Salah.

Liverpool’s hierarchy are currently at crossroads on Salah’s contract renewal.

Salah has hinted on the possiblity of bidding farewell to Liverpool at the end of the season as his contract talks with ownership of the club continue to stall.

The three-time golden boot winner earns £350,000 a week which potentially rises to up to £400,000 in performance-related bonus.

Salah’s current contract expires in 2025 and already appears to be frustrated at Liverpool’s proposals.

A player like Mohammed Salah, 32  shouldn’t be in the news pressuring Liverpool for an improved contract many would say.

This pots takes a look at three reasons why Liverpool should give in to Mo Salah’s demands.

1. Best Player at Club

Following the departure of Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season,  football fans assumed that the Reds would struggle to compete this season.

However, Arne Slot has countered that argument and Mo Salah has been very instrumental to the Reds terrific form this season.

Mo Salah already has 26 goal involvements in the league so far this season as Liverpool seat quite comfortably on top of the Premier League log.

Salah set the record for being the first player in the history of the Premier League to register at least 15 goals and 11 assists before Christmas.

Liverpool are of course in the title race as well as one of the favorites to win the Chamions League this season.

Having Mo Salah undistracted at the latter end of the season will help the Reds in achieving their ambition in Arne Slot’s first season.

2. Commercial Value

Big players come and go but if a club as the opportunity to keep their best players, it’s always advisable to do so.

Mohammed Salah is one of the major reasons why fans fill up the stadium on every matchday at Anfield.

Having a player like Salah will continue to attract revenue and open channels for new markets for the club.

Mo Salah’s jersey contributes to Liverpool’s jersey sales revenue. In the 2023/2024 season, the club earned £113.1m in jersey sales.

3. Reward for Loyalty

If anyone in the current Liverpool side deserves an improved contract, Mohammed Salah’s name should be first on the list.

The 32-year-old forward has been consistent on the pitch for the Reds since his arrival from Roma in July 2017.

Since then Salah has scored 229 goals in 373 appearances for Liverpool making him the club’s third all-time top scorer behind Ian Rush (339) and Roger Hunt (271).

Mo Salah has also won all the domestic and European competitions he has played in with Liverpool.
