‘They want new signings’ – Guardiola reveals transfer request from senior players

Manchester City’s dismal run of form has forced the squad to demand new signings in the January transfer window.

The Premier League champions’ woes continued with a 1-1 draw against Everton on Boxing Day, extending their miserable streak to just one win in 13 matches.

Injuries, loss of form, and a lack of creativity have severely dented City’s title hopes and raised questions about Guardiola’s leadership. Against Everton, Iliman Ndiaye canceled out Bernardo Silva’s early strike, and Erling Haaland’s penalty was saved by Jordan Pickford.

Following the match, Guardiola acknowledged the need for reinforcements. “If we can, we have to add players in January, definitely,” he said. “I think even the players asked ourselves … we are going to add some players?! Please!”

However, Guardiola cautioned that the winter transfer window is challenging. “The winter (window) is not easy. We have to add some players but we have to bring players for the next three, four, five years – and that is not easy.”

With City now seventh in the standings, their next match against Leicester is crucial. Guardiola must find a solution to the team’s defensive and midfield crisis in the January window to salvage the season.
