Aston Villa got back to winning against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon after the loss to Newcastle and the home draw  against Brighton five days ago.

The home side got their first win of the year with a deserved 2-1 win over the Foxes on Saturday afternoon.

Former Evertom midfielder Ross Barkley and Leon Bailey scored in the second half to give the home side the victory.

The first half was quite underwhelming as both sides struggled to create goal-bound chances.

Emiliano Martinez pulled off a great save to deny Jamie Vardy from equalising for the visitors moments later.

Stephy Mavdidi eventually brought Leicester City back into the game as he reacted quickest to a rebound to make the scoreline 1-1.

Ian Maatsen found Leon Bailey in space in the box with a sublime pass.

The Jamaican winger controlled the ball before slotting it into the middle of goal to put Aston Villa back on top.

Emiliano Buendia and Ollie Watkins had chances to increase Aston Villa’a lead late in the game but missed as the match ended 2-1.

Ruud Van Nisterooy’s Leicester City have now lost their fifth consecutive matches since the former Dutch striker took charge in December.

Leicester City are 19th on the log with 14 points while Aston Villa are 8th with 32 points.
