Napoli led the race to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho during the Winter transfer window.
The 2023 Serie A champions were very keen on bringing the Argentine winger to the club after the departure of its biggest asset – Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint Germain.
Alejandro Garnacho reportedly considered the move after struggling to get game time and being left of the squad in the Manchester derby in December.
Napoli according to reports submitted a bid of €50 million which Manchester United outrightly rejected.
Apparently, Napoli couldn’t reach an agreement with Manchester as well as Garnacho.
Giovanni Manna, in a recent chat with the media says the club decided not to push further because Garnacho requested for a salary the club couldn’t offer.
“We made an important bid to Manchester United for Garnacho. We really wanted him”. “We weren’t able to agree on personal terms with Alejandro, he requested an important salary to leave in January and we must respect our players”.
Chelsea were also interested in bringing Garnacho to the club but failed to reach an agreement with Manchester United.
Garnacho after being dropped alongside Marcus Rashford in December for the Manchester Derby has since returned to the squad after impressing Ruben Amorim with improved attitude and performances.
However, Marcus Rashford didn’t as he settled for a loan move to Aston Villa after Amorim consistently maintained that the 27-year-old academy graduate didn’t enough (on and off the pitch) to make a return to his team.
