Saka suffers major injury blow as Arsenal’s title hopes suffer setback

Arsenal’s season has been dealt a significant blow as star winger Bukayo Saka is set to be sidelined for an additional eight weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Saka’s injury woes began in December 2024, when he suffered a hamstring strain during Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

Despite initial hopes for a swift recovery, the injury has proven more severe than anticipated, leading to an extended period on the sidelines. This setback means Saka is not expected to return to action until mid-April 2025.

The timing of Saka’s injury compounds Arsenal’s challenges, as the team is already grappling with the absence of several other key forwards.

Kai Havertz has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a torn hamstring that requires surgery. Gabriel Jesus is also sidelined for the season with a knee injury, and Gabriel Martinelli is expected to be out for more than a month following his own hamstring injury.

These injuries have left manager Mikel Arteta with limited options in attack. The available senior forwards include Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling, while 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri may be called upon to fill the void.

Arteta faces the daunting task of reshaping his attacking lineup as Arsenal aims to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool, who currently hold a seven-point advantage.
