The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has introduced a new rule for goalkeepeers.
Staring from next season goalkeepeers will no longer be able to waste time before releasing the ball.
According to IFAB, the new rule will see goalkeepeers release the ball within eight seconds or face a penalty.
If any goalkeepeer exceed the eight seconds rule, the referee will award a corner kick to the opposition team.
Referees will be assisted by a five-second visual countdown.
Previously, goalkeepeers were allowed to hold on to the ball for six seconds before releasing the ball to a teammate.
The new development is the first modification to the law since its introduction in 1998.
