3 teams that can stop Chelsea from winning Conference League trophy

Chelsea are the odds-on favorites to make history by becoming the first team to complete the set of European trophies by lifting the Conference League title in May.

However, knockout football is notoriously unpredictable, and several teams could potentially derail Chelsea’s ambitions.

The Blues face Copenhagen in the round of 16 and will be expected to progress comfortably.

Here are three teams that could stop Chelsea’s Conference League charge:

1. Real Betis

Real Betis, who are rejuvenated since adding Manchester United winger Antony on loan, are a formidable opponent for anyone. They defeated Real Madrid 2-1 at the weekend, and their newfound form should strike fear into the hearts of their Conference League opponents.

Despite finishing 15th in the group stage, they navigated the knockout phase play-offs with victories over Genk.

Now, they face Vitoria Guimaraes in the last 16. Betis’s resilience and ability to overcome adversity make them a dark horse in the competition.

2. Fiorentina

Fiorentina, who have suffered two Conference League final defeats, are eager to get their hands on the trophy. They enjoyed a strong group stage, finishing third with four wins from six games.

Their reward was a last-16 tie against Panathinaikos, and they are favourites to progress, thanks mainly to their outstanding record at home, where they’ve lost just 3 games all season.

3. Vitoria Guimaraes

Vitoria Guimaraes were one of only two teams to go unbeaten in the group stage, winning four and drawing two of their six games. This impressive performance earned them a second-place finish behind Chelsea.

Although they face a tough last-16 tie against Real Betis, Vitoria’s solid foundation and unbeaten record make them a potential threat to Chelsea’s Conference League aspirations.
