Nottingham Forest’s Champions chase suffers further setback at Selhurst Park

Nottingham Forest’s dream of playing Champions League football at the City Ground and other European grounds next season looks seemingly unlikely.

The Tricky Trees dropped two points against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night as the game ended in a score draw.

Crystal Palace came into the match on the nack of a comprehensive victory over Aston Villa in the FA semi-final, while Nottingham Forest was looking to end their three-game winless strike.

The first half ended goalless as both sides struggled to create meaningful chances in front of goal.

However, the second half saw both teams increase the momentum, and the home side took the lead on the hour mark.

Eberechi Eze converted a penalty on the hour mark after Tyrick Mitchell was brought down on the box.

Former Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga found himself in space and directed a shot towards goal but his former teammate Dean Henderson denied him with a brilliant save.

Nico Williams’s shot at goal deflected off Murillo into the net to restore parity for the visitors four minutes after the opener.

The match ended one goal apiece as Nottingham Forest’s continues to struggle in their chase for Champions League football next season.

Nottingham Forest are currently fifth on the log having amassed 60 points with three matches left before the season ends.
