Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United secured their first win in 10 Premier League games, winning 2-0 to end Aston Villa’s hopes of UEFA Champions League football next season.
Ruben Amorim’s side started fast, with Mason Mount forcing Emiliano Martínez into an early save and then heading straight at him. Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo went close, but United lost momentum when Noussair Mazraoui limped off.
Substitute Diogo Dalot hit the post, with Rasmus Højlund and Ayden Heaven fluffing the rebound. Højlund shone before the break, seizing Matty Cash’s awful backpass to draw a foul from Martínez, who was sent off.
After halftime, United stayed on top. Højlund’s goal was ruled offside, and Fernandes and Casemiro missed chances, the latter striking the post.

Villa nearly stole one when Morgan Rogers pounced on Altay Bayındır’s fumble, but a foul call saved United. Soon after, Fernandes’ pinpoint cross met Amad’s header for the opener.
Late on, Ian Maatsen’s foul on Amad earned a penalty, and Christian Eriksen, in his final United game, coolly converted. The win, United’s 23rd, kept them clear of 17th, while Villa’s sixth-place finish ended their Champions League hopes.
