Liverpool have reportedly received a huge boost in their bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong.
After Manchester City deemed a deal too expensive and Bayern Munich admitted defeat, Liverpool seemed to have a clear run at Wirtz.
However, Real Madrid were reportedly gaining confidence in their pursuit, believing their new manager, Xabi Alonso’s past connection with the pair could give them an edge.
But according to German publication BILD, Wirtz is “about to” make the move to the Premier League champions, with talks ongoing.

Liverpool aim to finalize a deal worth around £125 million in time for Wirtz to join the German national team for their Nations League semi-final against Portugal on June 4.
Meanwhile, Bild reports that Frimpong has completed a medical, and all that’s left is official confirmation from both clubs.
The right-back is expected to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who recently agreed to join Real Madrid.
