Erik ten Hag is eyeing a reunion with two former Manchester United players after being appointed head coach of Bayer Leverkusen.
Ten Hag was named Leverkusen’s new manager this week, replacing Xabi Alonso, who moved to Real Madrid.
This is Ten Hag’s first role since his sacking from Manchester United in late October.
Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga last year and finished second behind Bayern Munich this season. Yet, Ten Hag faces a tough challenge as top clubs target Leverkusen’s squad.
Liverpool are chasing Florian Wirtz, while the Premier League champions are set to sign Jeremie Frimpong.
Adding to Ten Hag’s woes, vice-captain Jonathan Tah’s transfer to Bayern Munich was confirmed Thursday. Per Kicker, Ten Hag is interested in signing Antony and Alejandro Garnacho from United.

Antony revived his form on loan at Real Betis, but his future at Old Trafford remains unclear. He shone for Betis late in the season, despite their Conference League final loss to Chelsea.
Meanwhile, United boss Ruben Amorim has told Garnacho he can leave. Chelsea and Napoli are keen on the Argentine, valued at around £50m.
