Super Eagles and Udinese shot-stopper, Maduka Okoye, was warmly received at the Enugu State Government House on Tuesday by Governor Dr. Peter Mbah during a courtesy visit.

Okoye, who hails from Enugu State, shared his delight at reconnecting with his heritage and disclosed plans to initiate a charitable foundation and establish a football academy within the state.

He emphasized that these efforts are driven by his passion to uplift society and foster the growth of young athletes.

“I’m truly excited to be back home. Enugu is my origin, and I carry it with pride everywhere I go. I look forward to giving back by setting up a foundation for humanitarian causes and a football academy to mentor and train aspiring players,” Okoye said during the visit.

Governor Mbah, in turn, applauded the goalkeeper’s contributions to football both at home and abroad. He highlighted Okoye’s commitment to youth empowerment and announced his appointment as an Ambassador of Enugu State.

“We are appointing him as an Ambassador of Enugu State, and we believe he will be a great source of motivation for the next generation of talents in our communities,” he added.

The governor also assured the goalkeeper of the state’s support for his proposed football academy, revealing that land would be made available to facilitate its development.
