Spain advanced their pursuit of a first European Championship title, defeating hosts Switzerland with two second-half goals to secure a semi-final spot.
The world champions faced a tough challenge in Bern, struggling to penetrate a resilient Swiss defense in the first half. Despite missing two penalties, goals from Athenea del Castillo and Claudia Pina propelled Spain to their first Euro semi-final since 1997.

Mariona Caldentey missed an early chance, dragging her ninth-minute penalty wide after being fouled by Nadine Riesen. Alexia Putellas later failed from the spot, firing straight at Swiss goalkeeper Livia Peng.
Peng made two sharp saves in the first half, while Olga Carmona and Aitana Bonmati sent efforts over the bar as Switzerland’s backline held firm.
Del Castillo, introduced as a substitute, broke the deadlock three minutes after entering, slotting home coolly.
Pina sealed the win with a sublime curling strike in the 71st minute, setting up a semi-final clash with either France or Germany on Wednesday.
