Indiana Pacers star, Tyrese Haliburton has marked a major milestone in his personal life, getting engaged to his college sweetheart, Jade Jones, in a heartwarming moment at their alma mater, Iowa State University.
Despite facing a challenging year on the court, including a heartbreaking Achilles injury during the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals, Haliburton made time for a romantic gesture that’s been years in the making.
Wearing a medical boot and temporarily relying on a mobility scooter, he managed to rise to one knee and propose to Jones at Hilton Coliseum, the very arena where their love story began.

The scene was nothing short of magical. A glowing “Will You Marry Me” sign stood tall behind the couple, surrounded by red roses and petals carefully spread across the basketball court.
It was a sentimental full-circle moment for the pair, who met in 2019 while both were students at Iowa State, Haliburton a freshman basketball phenom, and Jones a member of the cheerleading squad.
After the proposal, the newly engaged couple posed for photos near Iowa State’s iconic Campanile, with Jones flashing a radiant smile and her sparkling diamond ring.
“This is the place where our story started, and where our next chapter begins,” the couple shared in a joint Instagram post celebrating the engagement.
Jones, a graduate of Davenport West High School, has been by Haliburton’s side through his rise from college star to NBA standout. Together, they share a mini goldendoodle named Ames, a nod to the city where their relationship blossomed.
The Pacers announced earlier this month that Haliburton will be sidelined for the entire 2025–26 NBA season as he recovers from his Achilles tear.
