Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has shared how Arsenal legend Ian Wright inspired his approach to balancing football and life.
Known for his relentless work ethic, Iwobi embraces a vibrant off-field lifestyle, drawing inspiration from Wright’s ability to excel on the pitch while living freely.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Iwobi explained, “Looking at them, especially Ian Wright, he did whatever he wanted.
“He expressed himself, gave 100% in football, but also enjoyed his life. So I would also use him as a role model, as I still give 100% in my football. But I like to have fun on the pitch as well as off the pitch, so that’s my way with music, with fashion, and with charity stuff.”

Like teammate Ola Aina, Iwobi engages fans on Snapchat, sharing moments from the dressing room and beyond, despite criticism over his focus. Unfazed, he pursues passions like music, releasing tracks like “Don’t Shoot” and “What’s Luv” under the pseudonym “17,” echoing Wright’s 1990s single “Do the Right Thing.”
Iwobi remains committed to expressing his personality while delivering for club and country.
