CHAN Eagles bow out of African Nations Championship with Congo win

Super Eagles home-based team, the CHAN Eagles ended their participation at the African Nations Championship we city a win over Congo Republic.

The CHAN Eagles came into the match playing for redemption and pride having lost their opening lost their opening two matches against defending champions, Senegal and Sudan.

Eric Chelle made a few changes in the team with 15-year-old Flying Eagles goalkeeper, Ebenezer Harcourt making his debut.

Remo Stars’ Alex Owoyah also made his debut having missed the last two fixtures due to lack of fitness.

The CHAn Eagles dominated for most spell of the tie as they bagged two second half of goals to seal the win as they head out of the competition.

Sikiru Alimi was arguably the star performer of the match as he scored a goal and created another.

The tall striker used his height to good effect as in the first goal as he Anas Yusuf pounced on his header in the box.

Alimi got on the scoresheet as he powered a header into the back of the net from a free-kick.

The win means nothing as the CHAN Eagles failed to book qualification into the last eight of the competition.
